Description + Goal
Since 1959, the St. Johns Fire District has protected the lives, homes, and businesses on the barrier islands of Johns, Kiawah, Seabrook, and Wadmalaw. The organization wanted to establish a framework for effective communication and accountability and to develop a cohesive team structure with trust and productive conflict at its core.
Solution + Services
We trained the SJFD leadership team on effective workplace dynamics, utilizing Everything DiSC® assessments. We guided them to align People + Vision to increase trust, improve communication, and shape team cohesiveness. We provided workplace consulting to the SJFD chief and leadership coaching with new and emerging leaders.
We worked with fire service professionals to develop skills related to trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results. We deployed The Five Behaviors® and Everything DiSC® assessments to help them clarify how they perform individually and as a team. We assisted them in mastering the five behaviors and increasing cohesiveness through teamwork and culture change.
The personalized journeys boost employee engagement, increase productivity, and create a dynamic workplace culture that guides decision-making, adaptability, and loyalty.
Outcomes
Though consulting and training continue, improving team cohesion paved the way for launching a strategic planning session and implementing a formal succession plan. Additionally, SJFD created a professional credentialing team to ensure employees take advantage of ongoing professional development and leadership training.
Our team has worked with Liz now for over a year. Before Liz, we struggled with trust, conflict, and accountability. Liz gets to know the team and has an impressive way of opening up team engagement. Through strategy, she has made our leadership team cohesive and far more collaborative. She has been an asset to our organization.
